nfdump is nowadays (since stretch, it was not part of jessie) started by a native systemd unit. #416501, #497446, #843602 The proper way to change configuration from the systemd units are overrides, i.e. to set a commandline parameter # systemctl edit nfdump.service and enter this into the spawning editor --- [Service] ExecStart=/usr/bin/nfcapd <options> --- using /etc/default/nfdump is deprecated with systemd, and extremely hard to model using a native systemd unit in the way it has been done with the previous initscript (with defaults being set in the initscript, and DAEMON_ARGS referencing other variables). I'm marking 843602 as wontfix to document this and close the others. Bernhard
