Hello Marc,
I've experienced similar problems and I kind of solved that by changing
the setting of CDDEV removing the "auto" keyword and putting the right
device instead (hda in your case?).

In all my tests it seems that for all kernel different from the debian
2.6.8, the "auto" keyword does not work any more.
I've tested with 2.6.15 too.
