Sorry to say, XView is (and always has been) completely broken on amd64 and other LP64 architectures. Fixing this is something that is not likely to happen in the forseeable future. IIRC, olwm and olvwm (the window managers themselves) do actually work on amd64 because they don't use the xview library, but olwmslave *does* use xview so it doesn't work. I would recommend that you simply use the i386 packages, and I would recommend that amd64 and other LP64 archs be dropped from the Debian packages completely. I see that you already have i386 enabled, but for anybody else reading this, here's how to enable it and install 32-bit olwm and olvwm (on unstable): dpkg --add-architecture i386 apt-get update apt-get install olwm:i386 olvwm:i386
