Package: src:linux Followup-For: Bug #884116 I also encountered this problem after the latest apt update && apt upgrade. The system didn't crash, though -- just the annoying right-to-left flicker occasionally.
After asking around in #debian on freenode, I installed (with dpkg -i) http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20170929T215212Z/pool/main/l/linux/linux-image-4.9.0-4-amd64_4.9.51-1_amd64.deb and rebooted. The system works fine now.
