With the upcoming shutdown of alioth, the Debian Octave Group [1] needs a dedicated mailing lists for discussions about the packaging effort (we do not use iRC). The team maintains GNU Octave [2], and several dozens of add-ons and related software. The list would mainly be for human traffic. But if we are allowed to do so, we would also be happy to use it for the Maintainer field of our packages; please let us know if the latter is acceptable for you.
