I can not reproduce it. Stable or Sid version.

Thanks for testing. It seems I am only able to reproduce this bug when 
the images are raw images (.cr2 from a 10mp Canon D400) and reasonably 
big (~10MB). I can upload a few somewhere if that helps testing.
