Thanks to my wife who did a lot of research on this, it would appear that it is not a new issue. The last time this happened was with Chromium 58.0.3071.109 and can be seen reported in the armbian forums: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/4668-chromium-browser-fails-to-launch/
