Hmm, poster claims that it is necessary to remove the DSC comments from the original document: "those (DSC) lines sometimes disturb proper previewing of the result with ghostview". However, the output of pdftops can just as well have two leading '%'s as one in bitmaps (in fact, my file does). Is there some way to distinguish those from DSC comments?
