sstp-client isn't in Debian so there's a limit to how much I can help,
but did you try rebuilding the sstp-client packages against the latest
ppp-dev?

The new version deliberately breaks ABI for plugins, but there are
mechanisms for dealing with that in Debian. Any compiled ppp plugins
will need to be rebuilt against the new version.
