Package: neovim Version: 0.2.2-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
when using ldapvi or other packages that query the alternatives database for vim.basic it spawns nano or other editors different from vim. As an example you can use ldapvi --host ldap.forumsys.com --user cn=read-only-admin,dc=example,dc=com --discover --bind-dialog always as described by this page for their Online LDAP Test Server https://www.forumsys.com/tutorials/integration-how-to/ldap/online-ldap-test-server/ the password for read-only-admin is password This is the result of succesfull authentication, ldapvi will show a page with information about the LDAP entities using nano. Upon exiting there will be a new line of message from /usr/bin/sensible-editor. --- Login Type M-h for help on key bindings. Filter or DN: cn=read-only-admin,dc=example,dc=com Password: ******** 23 entries read /usr/bin/sensible-editor: 25: /usr/bin/sensible-editor: /usr/bin/vim.basic: not found No changes. I'm not aware of the differences between vim and vim.basic so I don't know if vim.basic should still be used. Should neovim provides vim.basic or, the other way round, packages should not depend on this? -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing-debug APT policy: (500, 'testing-debug'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.14.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages neovim depends on: ii libc6 2.26-6 ii libjemalloc1 3.6.0-11 ii libluajit-5.1-2 2.1.0~beta3+dfsg-5.1 ii libmsgpackc2 2.1.5-1 ii libtermkey1 0.20-3 ii libunibilium4 2.0.0-2 ii libuv1 1.18.0-3 ii libvterm0 0~bzr715-1 ii neovim-runtime 0.2.2-3 Versions of packages neovim recommends: pn python-neovim <none> pn python3-neovim <none> ii xclip 0.12+svn84-4+b1 ii xxd 2:8.0.1453-1+b1 Versions of packages neovim suggests: ii exuberant-ctags [ctags] 1:5.9~svn20110310-11 pn vim-scripts <none> -- no debconf information
