Package: apcupsd Version: 3.14.14-0.3 Severity: minor Tags: upstream Can we get rid of the "We send an email message to root to notify him" language in the following configuration files?
/etc/apcupsd/changeme /etc/apcupsd/commfailure /etc/apcupsd/commok /etc/apcupsd/offbattery /etc/apcupsd/onbattery I know the language is inherited from upstream, but it's jarring to see, every time I set up a new server, that the root user is assumed to be a "him". Furthermore, referencing "root" is less relevant now since Debian has replaced direct references to "root" in those files with a variable lookup for $SYSADMIN that is defined in /etc/apcupsd/apccontrol. Perhaps something more accurate (and automatically more gender neutral!) that encourages people to modify the $SYSADMIN variable in apccontrol rather than directly editing the referencing files, like: "An email notification is sent to the $SYSADMIN email address defined in /etc/apcupsd/apccontrol." -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.3 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages apcupsd depends on: ii init-system-helpers 1.48 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u1 ii libgcc1 1:6.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-30 ii libwrap0 7.6.q-26 Versions of packages apcupsd recommends: ii apcupsd-doc 3.14.14-0.3 ii mailutils [mailx] 1:3.1.1-1 Versions of packages apcupsd suggests: pn apcupsd-cgi <none> ii udev 232-25+deb9u1 -- Configuration Files: /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf changed [not included] /etc/default/apcupsd changed [not included] -- no debconf information
