And here I disagree. For buster I would include both systemd unit and
init.d script. But right after Debian 10 released we'll move init.d script
to the examples.

The dual setup works with very little effort from our side, so I wouldn't
do that just yet. I've verified that setting 'daemonize' to 'false' and
using --background for start-stop-daemon work just fine (no need to
--make-pidfile and --remove-pidfile as prosody takes care about the
pidfile itself).
