Package: transmission-remote-cli Version: 1.7.0-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream
Dear Maintainer, Earlier, I was checking what packages still depend on python2 and whether I can remove it from my system or not. And aptitude (aptitude why packagename) said transmission-remote-cli still depends on python2. So, I headed to the project's page in github to check if there is any porting to python3 in progress and I saw this "transmission-remote-cli is no longer maintained. Alternative Transmission TUI clients are tremc (a fork of this project) and stig." How about removing the package from the repo and replacing it with one or both of the alternatives its (former?) maintainer suggests? There have been no new releases for it in the past 2.5 years and the version the repo hosts is already 4 years old! -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.16.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages transmission-remote-cli depends on: ii python 2.7.15~rc1-1 Versions of packages transmission-remote-cli recommends: pn python-adns <none> pn python-geoip <none> pn python-ipy <none> pn transmission-cli <none> transmission-remote-cli suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
