The binfmt "fix binary" mode was recently enabled for the qemu-user-static binfmt entries: https://bugs.debian.org/868030 qemu-debootstrap should check if it is enabled (in case the sysadmin deliberately or accidentally broke it or enabled it manually) and skip copying the qemu-*-static binaries into the chroot, since the foreign arch device will not need it and neither will the local device. It will only get outdated because it never gets updated: https://bugs.debian.org/635385 -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing-debug APT policy: (900, 'testing-debug'), (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable-debug'), (800, 'unstable'), (790, 'buildd-unstable'), (700, 'experimental-debug'), (700, 'experimental'), (690, 'buildd-experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.16.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_AU:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) qemu-user-static depends on no packages.
