Hi! I performed a test and upgraded xserver-xorg to unstable, which currently is on version2 :1.20.0-2. The problem has disappeared for me again. Can you confirm this before I tag stuff on this bug report?
This would mean that there are some upstream commits have fixed the issues introduced by the commits you mentioned, and thus could maybe be applied as patches.
