The solution works for me.  Thank you. Though the necessary option,
'nopdfautorotate fit-to-page' might be a challenge for someone in userland
like me to figure out.

I should also mention again the problem arose with Stretch, not with
Jessie.  These labels printed as desired in Jessie without this option.
