Yes, sorry for that. I'm very short of time ATM and apparently my testing was not accurate. Maybe in the future it would be a good idea to warn maintainers _before_ breaking their packages knowingly, to give them some time to detect problems. I tried to debug the segfault myself today, but with little result. I also tried to contact the upstream-author, but did not get an answer so far.
