The problem is that when a entry is added at the end of the 'dir' file (which happens when the section isn't specified) it's added without a newline.
The info reader then doesn't display this last added line. It's 'there' but 'invisible'. If you manually add the newline to the end of 'dir', the info reader works correctly.
