Package: icc-profiles
Version: 2.1-2
Severity: important

Hi Jonas,

it was nice to meet you in Taiwan, great to see people in person ;-)

I just saw that you are uploading/maintaining icc-profiles, and we had a
some discussion about this on the TeX Live mailing list.

I think that many of the profiles are free and should be moved to
icc-profiles-free. Quoting just one license statement:
        License: ICC
This profile is made available by the International Color Consortium,
and may be copied, distributed, embedded, made, used, and sold without
restriction. Altered versions of this profile shall have the original
identification and copyright information removed and shall not be
         misrepresented as the original profile.
        Comment:
Apparently applies generally to color profiles with ICC listed as
copyright holder in the embedded Creator field, according to
         <http://www.color.org/profiles2.xalter#license>.
This *is* a free license. In former times there was a lintian error
about this, but on my pushing and contacting the ftp-masters this was
changed and these are now considered free. Please see
        https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=786946
for the start on the discussion and the ftp-master clarification request
in
        https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=787338
My guess is that many more of these profiles in icc-profiles are free
and should be moved, the one that started the discussion in the first
bug report
        sRGB_IEC61966-2-1_black_scaled.icc
being a notable exception because it is NOT covered by the same
licensing terms as the others.

Thanks

Norbert
