Thanks, Orion, for that comparison with the Fedora Lua 5.3.5 result.

Yes, that is the correct result that I also get for Debian Buster Lua-5.2.4,
but for Debian Buster
Lua-5.3.3 I get the following:

irwin@merlin> /usr/bin/lua5.3 test.lua
nxcells[page] = 12, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00
nxcells[page] = 8, deltax = 1.000000e+00
nycells[page] = 8, deltay = 1.000000e+00

@Maintainer:
Please update the Debian package from 5.3.3 to 5.3.5 to see whether
that fixes the issue demonstrated by the script.
