Package: libasound2-data Version: 1.1.7-1 Followup-For: Bug #901689 Dear Maintainer,
After I ran aptitude fullupgrade, pavucontrol could not connect to pulseaudio daemon. Sound didn't work. I checked syslog and found: Nov 10 12:06:53 basil kernel: [ 157.224224] traps: pulseaudio[7481] general protection ip:7fd174ca93b0 sp:7ffe111f6190 error:0 in libasound.so.2.0.0[7fd174c84000+8f000] I checked Debian bugs for libasound and found OI Jonsson's patch. I ran pulseaudio -v and got results consistent with OI Jonsson's observations: I: [pulseaudio] (alsa-lib)utils.c: could not open configuration file /usr/share/alsa/ucm/HDA Intel PCH at 0xf1620000 irq 35/HDA Intel PCH at 0xf1620000 irq 35.conf I: [pulseaudio] (alsa-lib)parser.c: error: could not parse configuration for card HDA Intel PCH at 0xf1620000 irq 35 I: [pulseaudio] (alsa-lib)utils.c: could not open configuration file /usr/share/alsa/ucm/HDA Intel PCH/HDA Intel PCH.conf I: [pulseaudio] (alsa-lib)parser.c: error: could not parse configuration for card HDA Intel PCH I: [pulseaudio] (alsa-lib)main.c: error: failed to import HDA Intel PCH use case configuration -2 I: [pulseaudio] alsa-ucm.c: UCM not available for card HDA Intel PCH I: [pulseaudio] alsa-util.c: Failed to set hardware parameters on plug:hw:0: Invalid argument I: [pulseaudio] (alsa-lib)control.c: Invalid CTL front:0 ..etc. So I did exactly what OI Jonsson suggests, adding 'HDA Intel' cards.HDA-Intel to /usr/share/alsa/cards/aliases.conf But there was no discernible improvement. Same issue, same syslog entries. Pulseaudio is still broken; it won't start. -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.18.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled libasound2-data depends on no packages. libasound2-data recommends no packages.
