If it would be of help, I'd be happy to adopt the logsave program upstream in the SysV init tree. Seems like the sort of tool that would be mostly used during start-up and initscript usage.
That way we could be pretty sure logsave was available whenever initscripts were being used. Thoughts? - Jesse
