this issue has been reported as being fixed recently. Maybe you want to give it a try, use the debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso from https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/amd64/iso-cd/ and try the text-based installer there.
