Hello -- unfortunately mosh-server does need to be installed on the server (it is sort of like ssh in this respect). You can either install it from a package (which probably requires root -- you would need to ask the sysadmin), or you can compile it from source, install it in your own home directory, and give the location when starting mosh (e.g. "mosh --server=/home/kaction/bin/mosh-server"). There are some instructions at https://mosh.org you may find helpful.
