Package: openvas Version: 9.0.3 Severity: important Tags: a11y Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? Installed openvas and tried to run a scan. In /var/log/openvassd.messages the following is then logged for some hosts and the scan never completes [Thu Mar 28 13:35:17 2019][24429] [24429] release_connection_fd: close() : Bad file descriptor [Thu Mar 28 13:35:17 2019][24429] Severe bug! Unhandled transport layer -1 (fd=1000000) [Thu Mar 28 13:35:17 2019][24429] Severe bug! Unhandled transport layer -1 (fd=1000000) [Thu Mar 28 13:35:17 2019][24429] [24429] release_connection_fd: close() : Bad file descriptor * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I found errors in /var/log/syslog Mar 28 13:17:38 openvas9 gsad[528]: xsltFreeStackElem: Unexpected RVT flag (nil) Mar 28 13:17:38 openvas9 gsad[528]: xsltFreeStackElem: Unexpected RVT flag (nil) Mar 28 13:17:38 openvas9 gsad[528]: xsltFreeStackElem: Unexpected RVT flag (nil) Mar 28 13:17:38 openvas9 gsad[528]: xsltFreeStackElem: Unexpected RVT flag (nil) Mar 28 13:17:38 openvas9 gsad[528]: xsltFreeStackElem: Unexpected RVT flag (nil) Mar 28 13:17:38 openvas9 gsad[528]: xsltFreeStackElem: Unexpected RVT flag (nil) that referenced libxslt1.1 and found indications that this might have issues. Tried the 1.1.29 version and the errors from the syslog disappeared, but the errors in openvassd.messages remained * What was the outcome of this action? Did not resolve the problem * What outcome did you expect instead? Expected scan to complete, but it's stuck in a non-complete state for some hosts and never finishes. *** End of the template - remove these template lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/6 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages openvas depends on: ii greenbone-security-assistant 7.0.3+dfsg.1-1 ii openvas-cli 1.4.5-2 ii openvas-manager 7.0.3-1 ii openvas-scanner 5.1.3-2 Versions of packages openvas recommends: ii rsync 3.1.3-6 ii sqlite3 3.27.2-1 ii xsltproc 1.1.32-2 openvas suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
