Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: important

Hi,

Archiving EOLed repository is necessary work (thanks), however,
it should not break current users' environment. jessie-backports
is added by users with their intention but jessie-updates is enabled
**by default** at installation, every jessie users are affects with
 this archiving.

jessie is still under LTS at that time, so users expect they can run it
without any modification until LTS ends (and it should be so, IMO).

Unfortunately it broke users' system behavior (especially container
environment), but our social contract says "4. Our priorities are our
users and free software" - infrastructure change should not harm our
users from that point of view. So, please do not remove stable-updates
repo from mirror until its LTS ends next time (for stretch).

If there is much benefit to archive it than stay it, then we would
announce archiving work though several channels (users mailing list,
our website, blog, SNS, etc...) before it happens (sorry, posting it
to d-d-a is not enough, IMO).
