Obviously this isn't a bug in the kernel package and probably would be fixed by using initramfs-tools, but shouldn't this be reassigned to yaird? I know I've seen a similar error previously, but a quick test now shows that yaird 0.0.12-8 works fine with that value in a kernel config, so perhaps the reporter just needs to update his version of yaird.
