I've installed Thunderbird 68 b1 on Debian Sid Gnome VM, launched thunderbird and got strange error message mentioning Firefox: "You've launched an older version of Firefox" "Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browisng history already saved to an existing Firefox pofile. To protect your information, create new profile for this installation of Thunderbird". Message box suggest two actions: "Create New Profile" or Quit". Neither looks approriate, and not sure what's about Firefox at all.
