The file must be debian/source/format, as it is the only file in that
directory.

I added "sleep 100;" before the offending call to rmtree (line 2721).
Then "ls -l /proc/$PID_OF_DGIT/fd" reveals that the debian/source/format
is indeed open (with stdio, /dev/null and /usr/share/perl5/JSON.pm).
