The --root mostly works, but the integration leaves a bit to be desired: * Output on stderr gets echoed through to the screen * Configuration is not available through xscreensaver-demo * Preview is not available in the xscreensaver-demo main window, though fullscreen preview works * Manual configuration file editing is needed I suppose ideally it would just add itself to the set of offered xscreensavers on install.
