Looking at the times it seems more likely that hourly cron jobs (logcheck, sysstat, backup jobs via backuppc) are causing system stress. Investigating devising a trap via valgrind or some other mechanism because the system load is different throughout the day so I can't really say which hour the event will occur for sure.
