it's not always easy to figure out if a maintainer is active or no, and an NMU is sure to go thru even in case of inactivity/ > Please take care of closing the bug, since the closing > tag is missing from the changelog. that's now how it usually works: you open a bug report to let the maintainer now there an NMU pending with the attached NMU patch, you just cannot refer that number in the changelog since you open the bug _after_ uploading the NMUed package. you can read more about NMU at https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch05.en.html#nmu That been said, i saw you merged the patch in the changelog, but did not upload vatnumber yet. so please do, and you can just then go ahead and close this report, otherwise the NMU will be uploaded and you can then acknowledge this but report in the next upload.
