Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 3.30.2-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have no idea if my issue is related to gnome-terminal-server, but the only
clue I can get from syslog is that it could be and I don't want to let this
alarming incident unreported.

I previously filed the bug Bug#942410 "gnome-settings-daemon: gsd-housekeeping
crashes", which also contains log messages of gnome-terminal-server being
killed and files being deleted.

What just happend is, that at that time gnome-terminal-server received the TERM
signal, two files where deleted and the keyboard didn't respond for around 2
seconds:

  1 benjamin@debian:~/downloads$ ls
  2 audiotestfiles.zip
  3 clonezilla-live-2.6.3-7-amd64.iso
  4 debian-10.1.0-amd64-netinst.iso
  5 firmware-10.1.0-amd64-netinst.iso
  6 hp1820_8G.cfg
  7 libcurl3_7.52.1-5+deb9u9_amd64.deb
  8 MergingTechnologies-ravenna-alsa-lkm-5a06f0d33c18.tar.gz
  9 openwrt-18.06.4-x86-64-combined-squashfs.img.gz
 10 Shotcut
 11 todoman-config.tar.gz
 12 benjamin@debian:~/downloads$ rm todoman-config.tar.gz
 13 benjamin@debian:~/downloads$ rm deb^C
 14 benjamin@debian:~/downloads$ ls
 15 audiotestfiles.zip
 16 clonezilla-live-2.6.3-7-amd64.iso
 17 hp1820_8G.cfg
 18 libcurl3_7.52.1-5+deb9u9_amd64.deb
 19 MergingTechnologies-ravenna-alsa-lkm-5a06f0d33c18.tar.gz
 20 openwrt-18.06.4-x86-64-combined-squashfs.img.gz
 21 Shotcut
 22 benjamin@debian:~/downloads$ date
 23 Wed 16 Oct 2019 12:58:42 AM CEST

Notice that the two netinst images are gone. The hang happened in line 13. Some
time had passed before entering the date command in line 22, after I had
realised what happened.

I suffer from the keyboard hangs quite often, in a way that keypresses are not
handled for around 2 seconds and then get delivered 3 times, e.g. when I want
to exit vi, after pressing Esc, I want to type ':x', and after 2 seconds I get
:::x. As I was pressing Ctrl+C in the shell session above, it might be that
control sequences confuse the terminal or something. I have no idea.

I had the suspicion that this was related to a bug in libinput before and
commented/filed bugs there (#891858 and #924524). The first doesn't show up in
the logs anymore, the second still does with message "libinput error: event3 -
DELL081C:00 044E:121F Touchpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and
discarded.". I couldn't relate the log event to my keypress issues though.
There are also regular evolution-calendar-factory warnings in the logs and and
an systemd automount NFS volume is unmounted around the incident as well. I
have no idea, but I have lost a bit of faith in the reliabilty and integrity of
my system.

Attached please find a log excerpt around the time of the issue outlined above.
