Package: logrotate Version: 3.14.0-4 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss
When I upgraded to Debian 10 (buster), logrotate did not preserve my configuration for /var/log/wtmp (there wasn't even a warning about that), forcing "rotate" to 1. The consequence is that some logs have been lost. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /etc/logrotate.d total 44 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 120 2019-04-19 04:14:13 alternatives -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 442 2019-08-18 15:34:20 apache2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 173 2017-06-01 10:50:26 apt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 79 2017-04-19 00:11:13 aptitude -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 130 2018-08-29 00:21:11 btmp -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 112 2019-04-19 04:14:13 dpkg -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 313 2017-04-17 16:27:28 fail2ban -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1029 2017-01-25 20:45:37 psaccs_atop -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 541 2017-01-25 20:45:37 psaccu_atop -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 501 2019-02-26 18:43:39 rsyslog -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 145 2018-02-19 11:06:25 wtmp -- System Information: Debian Release: 10.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-debug'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-6-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=POSIX (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages logrotate depends on: ii cron [cron-daemon] 3.0pl1-134+deb10u1 ii libacl1 2.2.53-4 ii libc6 2.28-10 ii libpopt0 1.16-12 ii libselinux1 2.8-1+b1 ii systemd-sysv 241-7~deb10u2 Versions of packages logrotate recommends: ii bsd-mailx [mailx] 8.1.2-0.20180807cvs-1 ii mailutils [mailx] 1:3.5-3 logrotate suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/logrotate.conf changed: weekly rotate 12 create include /etc/logrotate.d -- no debconf information
