Package: git
Version: 1:2.24.1+next.20191209-1
Severity: wishlist

Currently, anyone who wants to store passwords with Git in a secure way
must build their own credential helpers from the files in
/usr/share/doc. This leads users to use less secure ways of storing
passwords, such as using URLs with passwords in them or using the git
credential-store helper.

It would be great if the libsecret credential helper could be built in
its own package so that folks could easily use it. The gnome-keyring
one is not required because it implements the libsecret API and so is
redundant. If you wanted to create a generic package, you could also
add the netrc credential helper, although I believe that's no longer
required with recent versions of libcurl.
