Dear maintainers,

Hello,

In Ubuntu, we are in the process of moving the i386 architecture to a
compatibility-only layer on amd64. We are keeping pcsc-lite on i386 because
it's a build-dependency of a lot of packages, e.g. openjdk* wpa and others, but
the pcscd package built from
this source has dependencies on other packages that are not being kept as
part of the compatibility library set (libccid).

We would like to drop this binary package rather than keeping it around in
the Ubuntu archive and uninstallable. Would you please consider applying
the attached patch, or something like it, to omit building these binary
packages on Ubuntu?

Thanks for considering,

AFAIK Debian does *not* plan to drop support of i386.

Why not use the proposed patch on Ubuntu *only*?

Bye
