Package: xinetd
Version: 1:2.3.15.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I am using the internal daytime service, the daytime conf file says:
# description: An internal xinetd service which gets the current system time
# then prints it out in a format like this: "Wed Nov 13 22:30:27 EST 2002".
but the actual format is like this:
10 FEB 2020 15:17:02 GMT

It would be good if it gave the format specified in the conf file.
I have a workaround which is to create my own service which just executes
/bin/date
as this gives the (for me) right format.

This is not all that new, it was the same on jessie.
The report below says that the daytime file has been changed but this is
untrue as I submitted this report immediately after doing a reinstall of
xinetd.
