..the "default debian packagers" way, I guess, I just installed it an it
just worked.  ;o)  I do remember answering a question on installing 
it, with "gdm."

.."the works" or "massive pile of junk", on this first box I run both
sdm and sdm-terminal.

..right now I've "piled all the junk in one box", the idea is
cannibalise it to produce a liteweight X client and app server,
and spread apps out on my lan boxes.

..I prefer it on vt7, and to move local and remote X'es onto vt8 'n up.

..well I also tried purging sdm* and still had the damned bug 
thing chase X off vt7 onto vt8 and vt9, so I guess I need to 
blame someone else.  ;o)

..temporary workaround is kill gdm and startx off the console 
and it sucks, except I now got DRI working.  ;o)
