I'm aware of this. I've built new packages for stretch and buster, there

They are for amd64, if you need other arches: I've provided the source
packages too. Unfortunately this is the only thing I can do in the
moment. I've opened

to have these packages integrated in next point release of Debian, but
there is no progress until now.
I have tried these packages on 3 separate debian 10 installations and
they seem to work nicely. I have not talked to any users that are still
unable to connect.
I think this is an important package to get updated in stable, or via
the volatile updates repo. The one that is in stable now only works on
very few clients. Hopefully the release managers agree.
