Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
In Synaptic (under GNOME), I click "Visit Homepage" on a package's description
pane.
* What was the outcome of this action?
As long as Chromium is installed, it is always the one being used. This happens
regardless of the configuration in either GNOME Preferences or `update-
alternatives`.
This also continues to happens even if I reinstall Firefox.
Workaround (if this can be considered as one): uninstalling Chromium.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I expect the default browser to be used. Considering that Synaptic does not
currently support manually choosing a browser, it should respect the
configuration in either the used desktop (in this case, GNOME) or systemwide
(via `update-alternatives`).
BTW: I have opened a ticket upstream regarding the lack of support for manually
selecting a browser: https://github.com/mvo5/synaptic/issues/52
