I found these ruby gems are still using set_attribute_was, which appears to have been removed in rails 6:

vendor_ruby/attr_encrypted/adapters/active_record.rb: set_attribute_was(attr, __send__(attr)) if value != __send__(attr) vendor_ruby/acts_as_taggable_on/taggable/core.rb: set_attribute_was("#{tag_type}_list", #{tag_type}_list)

ii ruby-acts-as-taggable-on 6.5.0-2~bpo10+1 all provides advanced tagging for Rails ii ruby-attr-encrypted 3.1.0-2~bpo10+1 all Encrypt and decrypt attributes

attr_encrypted seems pretty much a dead project...
