I'm glad someone is finding use for this. I updated the packaging in [1]. Notice the change in package name to inkscape-textext, which more closely matches other inkscape extension packages. It "works" in the sense that it compiles, installs, and creates basic objects in inkscape, but I haven't tested the packaging (or the actual extension) beyond that. I'd appreciate any feedback you have while testing and using it. I'll try to get around to uploading to debian-mentors again and asking for a sponsor in the near-ish future.
