Cdparanoia is still at the cdda2wav version from 1997 while cdda2wav did
evolve a lot since then. Cdda2wav does include a bug-fixed version of relevent
the paranoia code, so why deal with the dead cdparanoia that is Linux only and
unmaintained since 5 years?

Cdda2wav saves the good parts of cdparanoia by taking the relevent paranoia
code, making it portable and converting it into a library that may be used by
other programs too.

It may be that cdparanoia is still used, but only by people who did not yet
test
cdda2wav -paranoia. And note that cdda2wav supports this on more than 20
different platforms.
