I tried to downgrade ffmpeg with apt-get, but we only have access to
versions 4.3 and 4.1, chromium requires 4.2 minimum.

You have to download them by hand, then install them with "dpkg -i".
Once Chromium is restarted, the videos are visible without crashing
chromium.
