Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I am hereby orphaning gcc-3.3, which today just builds libstdc++5.

I no longer have binaries that rely on this ancient library. IBM TSM used to
require this - but as far as I can see, there are newer binaries these days
that use the "contemporary" C++ library. For old games it seems feasible to
just copy the binary around if needed. I'd be more worried about other 32-bit
libraries breaking at this point.

I'd weakly suggest not to include this package in the next Debian release,
but there might still be someone who cares. Popcon install count is still
around 4517, but vote is only 2, with 4514 reports not containing sufficient
information around usage.

Description: The GNU Standard C++ Library v3
This package contains an additional runtime library for C++ programs
 built with the GNU compiler.
 .
This package contains an old version of libstdc++ intended solely for
compatibility with proprietary binaries that cannot be recompiled.

Kind regards
Philipp Kern
