Package: mutt Version: 1.14.5-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
I have, since several years, used a setup where I set $realname once in my main configuration file, and set $from vi mbox-hooks depending on the folder I have open. mutt has thus always used "$realname <$from>" as the "From:" header in in my emails. Suddenly, this stopped working. I have upgraded mutt on July 1st for the last time, but this seems to have worked until some point in July 8th, after which point all my outgoing emails went out with just "$from" in "From:". I can even reproduce this on a clean temporary account: ----------------8<----------------8<----------------8<----------------- tmpuser@lemur:~$ whoami tmpuser tmpuser@lemur:~$ pwd /home/tmpuser tmpuser@lemur:~$ find . ./.xauth ./.muttrc ./.bash_logout ./.viminfo ./.bash_profile ./Mail ./.cache ./.profile ./.bashrc tmpuser@lemur:~$ cat .muttrc set from="f...@example.com" set realname="Foo Bar" ----------------8<----------------8<----------------8<----------------- With this setup, I open mutt, hit "m" to compose, fill in "To:" and "Subject:", write something in $EDITOR, save, quit. Then I get: From: f...@example.com instead of From: Foo Bar <f...@example.com> as expected. setting from to "Foo Bar <f...@example.com>" works, but this is a regression with regards to the bevavior of years or maybe decades. -- Package-specific info: Mutt 1.14.5 (2020-06-23) Copyright (C) 1996-2020 Michael R.
