I found a git repository for converting the data to JSON [1], along with
instructions on how to use it [2]. However, the cldr-localenames package is not
available on npm, and I didn't figure out how to rebuild it yet.

But I found another repository [3], in which I can simply run "npm install",
and it downloads the XML data and converts it to JSON. The resulting data is
very close to what is shipped in php-getttext-languages, and should be fine for
my purposes.
