Yup, I've been following the debian-devel discussion, and figured you'd end up going that way. I'm not using debian's exim4-config package any more, so my interest in this bug isn't very high currently; as far as I'm concerned, you can feel free to close it, but you might want to add something like the router I included in the bug to the README or something.
