Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal Hi,
as I wrote on https://bugs.debian.org/960838 3 months ago: Upstream has been inactive for 2 years. This kind of software needs constant updating to remain useful, as indicated by #750872 and the pile of non-handled upstream bug reports that report breakage on website X or Y. Given this, it's not surprise to me that popcon has been steadily decreasing since 2015. In contrast, youtube-dl is actively maintained and its popcon steadily increasing. Judging by the package descriptions, youtube-dl claims to support vastly more websites, including most of those that get-flash-videos itself claims to support. So at first glance, I don't think we're serving our users well by including get-flash-videos in the distribution. I'd rather see them not have to wonder and choose, and instead directly find the best maintained piece of software. On top of this,get-flash-videos is the only reverse-dependency of libdata-amf-perl, which causes trouble (#845812). Thanks in advance, cheers!
