When people understand what a 64/32bit system is, yes.

It is still written "amd64" vs "i386", people will think "I don't have
an amd64, I have an intel", and download the i386 image.

Not really 10 years, rather 4 years. But yes, some features don't get
implemented, that doesn't mean they shouldn't. At some point we won't
have 32bit ports of Debian, but before that we will still have people
making the confusion.
